Unit 8 Reading Response

One of the first steps in creating a great app is to first come up with a big idea, a good concept, something people need such as Grades an app made by Jeremy Olson which helped student keep track of the grades. The second step is defining the opponents their analogy, seeing what other people have succeeded on and what they have failed on from there we try to do something better. Most of this article focuses on usability, gestures and ways to create a great app that is able to solve the users problems. In part two we learn that after creating the app the next step is marketing. To do this by yourself you need to follow this next steps list influential people: app designers and developers, technology journalists who cover apps, folks at market store ( apple/android ) Actively monitor look for opportunities to connect with them, go where they are and cultivate long-term friendships, building buzz by blogging collating email addresses, twitter and Facebook accounts that can be reach when launch day comes. and finally use social media to your advantage.

Unit 7 reading response

As time passes by technology and the internet advances and the need for better gadgets and websites becomes greater, such as in smartphones. Now days you don't have to worry only about desktop view but about cellphones too, because all the information you get on a website has to be able to be shown successfully in various sizes of screens like tablets and cellphones. The designer must not only worry about designing the website but about user experience. Creating a Scalable design tends to be a lot of work and very hard to do well, some suggestions to use if making a mobile site is not possible is allowing zooming that way the user is not stuck with a tiny site that makes it impossible to navigate through, another suggestion is to provide a link for the full web site no matter how good the design is
.

 Smartphone project brainstorm

Ideas:
1. Tv Remote ControlApp
This app would allow you to control your television through WiFi allowing you to change
channels, volume, On Off, and any other function that the TV might have.

2. Personal Doctor App
This app would allow you to have professional help fast, all you would do is describe what kind  of pain you might be experiencing or you could send an image of what the problem is. This app could recommend what to do "how to fix it" or it could give a list of hospitals/Clinics that are available at that moment.

3. Key/Phone Finder App
For this app you would attach a smart charm holder to your keys that would communicate with you phone/app. The Charm holder would have an alarm so whenever you lose your keys you just open the app and set the alarm off and then just follow the sound until you find your keys.

4.Collage maker
This app would help you make a photo collage

5.Cheese Guide
An app that helps decide what kind of wine goes well with certain cheeses.

6. What to do App
This app would help you find something to do. Movies, Food, Drinking, Concerts, Sport Events.

Week 6 classchum feedback

This is some of the feedback we got: Background too empty, use more color or maybe even photogrpahy. White text on a light color background doesnt work well. Have a back home icon/button on every page would work. Our book uses lots of icons like trees and other stuff, it would be good to incorporate those icons to the site.

Unit 5 Reading Response

Chapter eight helps us understand that when it comes to team discussions and project we should not only focus on what people might like or what they might dislike because then it can it turn similar to a religious debate which consist of people disagreeing on what is true and what is not. This makes me understand that you will never be able to please people, some will like it some won't, our focus should be on what works. Chapter nine give us good ideas on how to test your own site. Something to keep in mind when testing is to not worry so much about little things like color etc. but worrying that all the important components are working, it is also good to let people with fresh eyes take a look at the web site to give feedback. Something else that i learned is that when designing a website i should not only focus on my target audience, I should make every single aspect of the website appealing to anybody. It is also important to start testing as early as possible and to keep testing through the entire development process, it is never too early to start testing.

Unit 4 Reading Response.

Chapter seven teaches us about the importance of getting people off on the right foot and shows us the importance of covering every single detail of our website so that no matter who end up on it, they  wont get lost. Some of the things a home page must accommodate are site identity which is making the home page tell the viewer of the bat what the site is about, what it is for and if possible why they should be there. I also have to have in mind some of the adverse conditions that i can be on while working on a website like knowing that the home page is the waterfront property of the web which is the most desirable real state which means everybody who has a stake in the site want a promo or a link, also the home page has to appeal to everyone visits the site, no matter how diverse their interests. And the last thing that i learned was that i should be very precise on how I show explicit stamens of what the site is about so it doesn't matter if you're on the homepage you will have an idea of what everything is about.

Unit 3 Reading Response.

Chapter six teaches us about the importance of designing good navigation. Something to keep in mind is that people won't use our web site if they can't find their way around, this chapters helps us a lot by giving us tips about how to improve our navigation system such as organizing hierarchy and placement. Placement is really important because if the user get lost eventually if he will leave and that is not what we want, a good way to give the user a sense of how much ground he has covered is to change the color of the links that they have already used. Another important thing to remember while assigning sections to our navigations is to keep home in it, because when you're in the the site, the home page will act as a north star, because being able to click home will give the user a fresh start if he gets lost. Our navigation system has to use hierarchy to tell us what the site contains and where to begin and what your options are. Finally using a persistent navigation should tell the user "Some parts will change a little depending on where you are, but it will always be here, and it will always work the same way." This will help the user navigate successfully through out the web site.
